Hi,one question, for example, my goal is to be at 7 % bf, can I go down to that % WITHOUT using yohimbine, and green tea extract, and getting by BCCA from Whey Protein(High source of BCAA)? and doing the others things: lifting often, heavy, doing some HIIT, taking cafeine and doing some Fasted Training? its also worth to mention that I’m taking my time dieting and doing slowing reducing 100kals per week instead of jumping from 400 grams of carbs to 200 carbs in one day(Obs I know I have to be in a caloric deficit, just want to know if 7% is achievable without using yohimbine, and green tea extract, and getting by BCCA from Whey Protein) … what are your thoughts? as Always, great article!
3) Once my LEGION PHOENIX arrives (and believe me, I cannot wait until it does), your routine states to take 1 serving (4 capsules) with my post-workout meal in the morning and then another serving (another 4 capsules) in the afternoon/evening (depending on how I time my meals to enter fasted state again), that equals to 2 servings of PHOENIX per day, but the bottle states to only take 2 capsules twice a day with meals (1 serving per day). Is it completely fine to take 2 servings / 8 capsules per day for 2-3 months straight?
Load up on low energy density foods, like vegetables, fruits and fat-free broths. A few minor tweaks can lower the energy density of your favorite meals, too. For example, substitute a half-cup of spaghetti and a half-cup of spiralized zucchini “zoodles” for a full cup of spaghetti. Or make a chicken, vegetable and brown rice soup instead of serving grilled chicken with brown rice and veggies; the broth is often very low or virtually free of calories, lowering the energy density of your meal, so you may fill up on fewer calories.
Remember, successfully implementing a belly fat diet is to not do everything all at once. Your diet should not disrupt your daily life, but instead fit into it. Once you get into the habit of doing these belly fat diet tips, it’s harder to NOT do them than just to, well, do them!
Don’t be discouraged if it takes a few months, though. Some bodies require more time to make the shift from burning sugar to burning fat as its primary fuel. Just keep making incremental changes, and stick with it. Intermittent fasting can be helpful for making the transition faster. For details on this, check out my previous article, “What the Science Says About Intermittent Fasting.” There is simply no question in my mind that this is the most powerful tool you can use to optimize your lean body mass.
HI Mike, great article!! I have question. I trained in the morning, can i do a hitt workout with empty stomach for 30 min and then take bcaa to do weight lifting? I want to loose weight but still lift weights.
Research shows that eating healthy protein, healthy fats, and healthy carbs can help slim your stomach. These 14 foods are among the best sources of protein, fiber, and all the other ingredients and nutrients that help fight fat. In fact, they’re so good for you that they’ll just about single-handedly exchange your fat for a toned, lean body and sexy abs. Reduce calorie consumption. Unless you restrict calorie intake, you won’t lose belly fat. Keep track of your daily calorie consumption by using a program such as MyFitnessPal or the USDA SuperTracker to record everything that you eat.
Earlier, belly fat was considered healthy; it was perceived as a reservoir of adipose tissues that could be utilized when a person needed extra energy. With time, the views have changed. Researchers state that excess belly fat triggers chronic cardiovascular diseases. So, it is important to measure belly fat and check how much you need to reduce. Here are some parameters to measure your waistline.
Besides these health risks, excess abdominal fat increases the release of inflammatory hormones and damages your kidneys, eyes and arteries, impairing brain oxygenation, which results in vision problems, memory and hearing loss.
Sorry for maybe repeating the same question , but should I keep going on or change a few parameters ? ( like I eat the same foods everyday, I change only on weekends , Its been like this for quite a while , only the quantity is changed. ). Do u think that even though I succeed in being in calorie surplus/deficit , I should not stick to the same foods and that might be the reason that my body responds so slow ( coz it adapts , maybe ? ). I would really like to know if that matters a lot or not .

If you can’t lose your belly fat, you’re using the wrong approach. You don’t need endless sit-ups, supplements, starving yourself or worse surgery. Here are the 10 best ways to lose your belly fat – quickly and naturally.
You need to tackle this problem to stay healthy and look good at all times. You can reduce your belly fat by abstaining from some kinds of sugary foods and sticking to low-carb foods, vegetables, and foods with high fiber content.
Hi Mike, thank you for this interesting article, I bought your book at amazon and I was dieting (hi protein+complex carbs), doing weight training + HIIT and taking L-Carnitine, green tea and lots of water, I managed to lose about 8 kilos within 2 months, but 2 weeks before reaching the 2-month regimen I reached plateau on burning the rest of my belly fat, I think I’m stuck at 20% fat, you say dieting is not key but creating a 25% calorie deficit is, but I would like to know if L-Carnitine is really helping and if I need to adjust my regimen in order to burn the rest of the fat and possibly begin taking the chemicals you recommend.
Go green. In a 2009 study, women who drank about five cups of a beverage containing green tea each day, combined with exercise, lost more belly fat than those who merely exercised. In addition to losing one inch around the waist, the tea drinkers decreased subcutaneous fat by 6 percent and visceral fat by 9 percent within 12 weeks. Researchers attributed the loss to catechin, an antioxidant in green tea.
Cutting back on your carbohydrate intake is a very quick way to see the results of fat loss. I know are now thinking, surely a low fat diet must be better for banishing the bulge, right? You will be surprised.
7. Eat More Protein. Protein has a higher thermic effect than other foods: your body burns more energy processing proteins than it does processing carbs and fat. That’s why high protein diets work great at burning your belly fat.
So even though this is my 8th week of “cutting” you suggest i still stay in a deficit longer? even though i haven’t been perfect with my targets I’ve still been in a deficit so i don’t know how much longer i should keep going before damaging my metabolism.
Aim for 30 to 60 minutes of moderate-intensity work on a cardio machine of your choice most days to help start the process of losing fat, including at your belly. Cardio machines also facilitate high-intensity interval training, which is especially beneficial to fat loss, especially visceral fat.
Yeah, okay, maybe if you reduce your body fat percentage to 20 percent if you are a woman then, eventually, your belly will disappear. But, if you lose 50-60 lbs. and your waistline stays almost exactly the same size and then if you gain a few lbs. back and all of it goes on your belly, so that you are increasingly looking like a clown and it puts so much strain on your muscles, tendons, etc. that you can’t even walk without doing more damage than good, much less exercise, then there is a problem that goes beyond your advice and many of the things you discounted actually do help with THAT.
Researchers have found that obese people tend to have greater numbers of Firmicutes bacteria than people of normal weight. Studies suggest that these types of bacteria may increase the amount of calories that are absorbed from food (39, 40).
Increase your daily activity levels. Lifestyle activities are a great way to add more exercise to your day. Being more active throughout the day has been shown to have similar benefits to 150 minutes of planned cardio each week.
Once you’ve established a regular cardio routine, add two or three weight training sessions on nonconsecutive days to your weekly workouts; everyone naturally gains some fat as they age, but building muscle tone can significantly slow the production of belly fat. In a study conducted at the University of Minnesota, overweight women who did twice-weekly strength training routines that included eight to 10 exercises of major muscle groups, from biceps curls to leg presses, gained 67 percent less visceral fat over two years than women who didn’t do strength training regularly.
Studies show that excess belly fat can lead to cardiovascular diseases and is not healthy for individuals (1). It is therefore important for you to monitor your belly fat regularly and keep it in check when necessary. Below are ways you can use to measure your waistline to determine if your belly fat is normal or excess:
Now, there’s nothing wrong with training in a fed state. Any exercise burns energy, which supports your weight-loss efforts. What many people don’t know, however, is that training in a fasted state offers several unique fat loss benefits.
Research shows that supplementation with CDP-choline improves attentional focus, and I included this in FORGE because most people find fasted training more mentally draining than fed training and CDP-choline can help counteract this.
Many people turn to steady-state cardio workouts, like long jogs, when trying to slim down. The problem with this approach: A 45-minute run at a consistent pace may help you shed pounds at first, but soon your metabolism will adjust and you’ll stop burning calories the moment you hop off the treadmill.
Sometimes you need a stress-reducing shortcut. You can trick your body into relaxing with an aromatherapy inhaler, which you can use the second you feel stressed. The brain quickly processes smells, which hit the amygdala, the area of your brain responsible for anxiety. Scents like eucalyptus, lavender and bergamot can help shut down stress.
Stand with your feet slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Bending at your hips and knees, squat down and lower your body until you can place your hands on the floor. Kick your legs backward—into a pushup position—and then immediately reverse the move and quickly stand up from the squat. That’s 1 rep.
