“does weight lifting lose belly fat _do gym lose belly fat”

By eating the same things over and over, my belly fat diet is simple. I can measure out the calories once, and then I know how many calories I am eating every day, because what I eat is the same. If you are keeping a food diary and spend more than 30 seconds a day counting calories, then you are going to get bored of doing it. The majority of successful dieters I know do not calorie count.

Eat foods that have been shown to reduce belly fat specifically. A 2008 Pennsylvania State University study found that eating whole grains rather than refined grains resulted in a greater loss of fat around the midsection. A study appearing in the July 2007 issue of “Diabetes Care” found a diet rich in monounsaturated fats resulted in the greatest loss of belly fat compared with diets rich in carbs or saturated fat. Examples of belly-fat-fighting foods include brown rice, oatmeal, whole wheat, nuts, seeds, olive oil, canola oil and avocados.

Most people believe that belly exercises are the ones which concentrate mainly on the abdominal region and hence produce faster results than any other type of exercises. This is a myth. You can’t lose belly fat with abdominal exercises alone.  Abdominal exercises are used to build and strengthen abdominal muscles and not to lose your belly fat

I have been trying to identify the reason but honestly I am lost. I have followed the same workout routine (4 days a week weight training + 4 – 5 days cardio) which was supposedly designed to maintain muscle while on caloric deficit.

Measure the broadest area of your hip and the narrowest area of your wrist. Then divide the values to get your waist-hip ratio. If your ratio is 0.8 or above, then you have excess belly fat and you are the risk of having cardiovascular diseases.

Hello, Mike! I absolutely love your articles and the way you break down all the info! However it is a bit confusing for me to understand how to count my calories 🙁 Im 5’11 214 pounds with 19% body fat. According to ITFYM I need about 2300kkal per day to lose fat, approximate macros are 220 grams of protein, 250 carbs and 70 fat. Lets take as example easiest thing as chicken breast, 950 grams is 230gm of protein and 1100 kkal. Does this mean I have to eat almost a kilo of chicken per day and I will still lose body fat?… Plus there are salads and carbs on top of the chicken, sometimes I find it hard to stuff my face with so much food… maybe im counting something wrong? Or am really correct?

Stack the snacks. Eat small portions of healthy snacks three times a day. In research from Georgia State University, athletes who followed this pattern burned more fat and calories than those who waited for long periods to eat.

Yeah, it sounds a little weird, but hear us out. Experts say that certain compounds in olive oil stimulate a hormone in your stomach that signals to your brain that it’s full. Thus, it curbs your appetite so your body doesn’t feel quite as hungry. You probably don’t want to shoot it straight up, so try dipping some multigrain bread into about a tablespoon of the stuff 15 minutes before a meal. Quirky, but it should keep you from overeating and packing on unnecessary pounds.

Yes, it can be very tempting to reach for the merlot at the end of a particularly taxing day at the office, but studies show that alcohol is one of the main offenders when it comes to storing belly fat. Consider this: if you consume just two glasses of wine an evening, that’s an extra 72,000 calories a year, which equates to 20 pounds of fat.

Cardiovascular exercise promotes visceral fat loss when combined with calorie restriction better than dieting alone. A 2009 study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism found that participants over the age of 50 who participated in 90 minutes of moderate-intensity cardiovascular exercise — cycling indoors — five times per week lost significantly more visceral fat than those who only restricted calories. Brisk walking or hiking offer similar intensities and can help you lose your belly.

Every pregnancy and delivery are different, so check with your doctor before engaging in any workout program after giving birth. If you experience any heavy bleeding, excessive soreness, headaches, or other unusual symptoms during or right after exercising, stop immediately and call your doctor for advice.

I’ve decided to do HITT cardio training 2x a week, but I’m unsure of the duration? Since I’m ‘skinny-fat’, I’m afraid I might lose more weight in my arms or legs which makes me looks scrawny. Will doing HITT x2 week help? Also how long should I do it for?

Abdominal fat actually produces inflammatory molecules, and high inflammation levels in your body can trigger a wide range of systemic diseases linked with metabolic syndrome. This is why carrying extra weight around your middle is linked to type 2 diabetes, heart disease, strokes, and other chronic diseases.

This is a simple yet ultra-effective abs workout. Just lie on your back and lift your legs 45 degrees off of the floor. Squeeze your abs, lift your head and shoulders off the ground and pump your arms 100 times.

My personal favorite cardio exercise to supplement my weightlifting regime is to do what is called, “Tabata Intervals.” First I do a 5 minute light job, and then I do 8 sets of 20-second sprints and 10 seconds of rest for 4 minutes, followed by 5 minute cool down job.
